Certainties are few and far between in life, let alone in sneaker culture. But one tradition that feels like it will live on in perpetuity in our corner of the world is the annual Air Jordan 11 Holiday release. Ever since 2008 when the Air Jordan 11/12 Countdown Pack released, a new Jordan 11 colorway has debuted during the holiday season to put a bow on the year that was. And that trend will continue in a little over a month when the new Air Jordan 11 "Cherry" drops on December 10th.
If a “Cherry” Jordan 11 looks and sounds familiar, that’s because this will be the second time the colorway has appeared on Michael Jordan’s eleventh signature shoe. The original Jordan 11 “Cherry” debuted on the model’s low-top silhouette back in 2001, and was later reissued in 2016. Both releases were well received by collectors who appreciated the design’s timeless white-and-red color block that practically screams “Chicago Bulls!” from every angle.
Back for a second (or third?) tour of duty, the modern Air Jordan 11 “Cherry” is designed in a color coordination that’s faithful to its low-top counterpart. It adds signature elements of the Jordan 11’s mid-top silhouette, including a Varsity Red Jumpman on the collar, outline “23” branding on the back of the shoe, and “Jumpman Jordan” on the tongue.
All of these details, as you can see, amount to a super clean look for the beloved Jordan 11. One that, had it been an original colorway, would have absolutely been a part of Michael’s on-court rotation with the Bulls.
