Early Look at the Air Jordan 1 High 85 "Black/White"

The Air Jordan 1 High ‘85 is the gift that keeps on giving for sneaker collectors who are into obscure Air Jordans.

Since debuting in a colorway inspired by a former Player Exclusive Jordan 1 worn by Michael Jordan in his rookie season with the Chicago Bulls in 2020’s “New Beginnings Pack,” the Jordan 1 High 85 has been released in old school colorways that surfaced around the model’s debut, like the “Varsity Red,” “Neutral Grey,” and “Georgetown.” Now, the shoe is set to be released in yet another style that pays tribute to the early days of the Jordan 1: the Air Jordan 1 High 85 “Black/White.”

An original colorway by Nike in ‘85, the “Black/White” is just as rare as every Jordan 1 High 85 that came before it. Aside from its original release, the “Black/White” has only been retroed two times: in 2008 as part of a “Countdown Pack” with an Air Jordan 22, and in 2014 in the “Jordan 1 High OG” construction.

The new “Black/White” Jordan 1 High is the most accurate-to-the-original retro of the design yet, presented in the “‘85” construction with every detail down to the texture on the rubber midsole being painstakingly recreated. It features period-correct panel shapes, an updated silhouette to match the overall shape of the OG Jordan 1. Even the “stars” on its rubber outsole are more like an OG 1985 pair.

In addition to giving collectors a chance to own a classic, original Air Jordan 1 colorway, the “Black/White” is another opportunity to jump on the “Panda” trend started by the Nike Dunk in the same two-tone, black-and-white color scheme.

No matter how you slice it, the Air Jordan 1 High 85 “Black/White” offers something for everyone, making it one of the best releases of early 2023.
