The New Balance Releases That Made Waves in 2025

2025 has been a massive year for New Balance. While the brand has always been the gold standard for craftsmanship and "dad shoe" comfort, this year saw them lean heavily into high-concept storytelling and new, innovative silhouettes. From the debut of the 2010 to Joe Freshgoods celebrating a half-decade of partnership, the Boston-based giant has mastered the art of making the technical feel luxurious.

Here are the New Balance releases that defined 2025.

204L 1

New Balance 204L "Mushroom" – U204LMMA

The 204L arrived this year as a fresh, low-profile interpretation of 2000s running style, and the "Mushroom" colorway is the perfect entry point. This silhouette blends the slim structure of '70s trainers with the technical textures of modern lifestyle shoes. It features a multi-piece upper made of premium mushroom-toned suede and arid stone mesh, accented by arced lines and a unique double-stacked "N" logo. With its lightweight construction and an EVA outsole inspired by archival models like the 321 and 530, it’s the ultimate refined neutral for any 2025 rotation.

992 2

Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 992 "Aged Well" – U992JG1

To celebrate five years of one of the most impactful partnerships in sneaker history, Joe Freshgoods returned to the silhouette that started it all: the 992. The "Aged Well" edition is a poetic follow-up to his 2020 "No Emotions Are Emotions" pair, featuring a gradient palette of Rose Smoke and Misty Rose. The design is intended to look like a pair that has weathered and faded under the sun over the last five years. Crafted from premium MiUSA pigskin suede over breathable gray mesh, this release serves as a "championship ring" for Joe’s tenure with the brand, complete with a color-blocked ABZORB midsole and custom JFG branding.

2010 1

Kith x New Balance 2010 "Purple" – U2010KTC

Ronnie Fieg helped introduce the world to the 2010, a progressive new model that centers on a massive, segmented ABZORB sole unit. In true Kith fashion, this "Purple" colorway is moody and sophisticated, utilizing a combination of deep purple pig suede, black nubuck, and diamond-knit mesh. The attention to detail is peak Fieg, featuring a subtle Kith monogram pattern embossed directly onto the "N" logo. It’s a shoe that feels heavy on Y2K tech-running DNA while maintaining the high-end, urban consumer appeal that has made Kith a global powerhouse.

992 2

Action Bronson x New Balance 992 "Tiger Eye" – U992AB1

Action Bronson brought his signature "Specializing in Life" energy to the 992 this fall with the "Tiger Eye." This colorway is a loud, unapologetic tribute to Bronson’s favorite team, the New York Knicks, featuring a vibrant orange mesh base and a striking blue mesh tongue. The brightness is balanced by "Tiger Eye" brown nubuck and suede overlays that give the shoe a rugged, earthy feel. With "BAKLAVA" branding on the lateral heel and a sleek all-black sole unit, this pair is as eclectic and high-quality as one of Bam Bam’s multi-course meals.

KITH x New Balance 993 1

Kith x New Balance 993 "Knicks Home" – U993MS

Continuing his role as the Creative Director of the New York Knicks, Ronnie Fieg released the "Knicks Home" 993 as part of a Madison Square Garden-inspired pack. This MiUSA masterpiece features a blue mesh base paired with crisp white and cream suede overlays. The bold orange "N" logo serves as the focal point, reflecting the team’s iconic colors. With "KITH" branding on the heel and a palette that perfectly captures the energy of a night at the Garden, this release is a love letter to New York sports culture and premium craftsmanship.

2010 2

Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 2010 "Bag Lady" – U2010JG1

For his 11th installment with New Balance, Joe Freshgoods took on the new 2010 silhouette with the "Bag Lady" collection. Dressed in a sophisticated "Cub/Eucalyptus" tan palette, the shoe features a mix of high-quality leather and nubuck over a diamond-knit mesh base. The standout feature is the oversized, sculpted ABZORB midsole that provides incredible shock absorption and a commanding stance. It’s a mature, expressive design that reflects Joe’s growth as a storyteller while highlighting New Balance’s commitment to new-age tech aesthetics.
