Some things get better with age. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of slipping into vintage jeans that have gone through a couple hundred cycles in the washing machine, then you definitely know what I’m talking about. Not only do the weathered cotton fibers of ye-old jeans feel like butter against your legs, but their frayed hems, broken belt loops, honeycomb fades and other imperfections suggest a garment full of character. All of these details are accentuated when you wear said jeans with a solid-colored tee.
If you need more proof that the combination is undefeated, then allow me to introduce you to the Women’s Air Jordan 1 High OG “Denim.” Set to release later this month on September 22nd, the “Denim,” as its name suggests, is inspired by jeans that’ve gone through the ringer, and lived to tell about it.
The “Denim” captures the essential jeans-and-a-tee look with frayed light wash denim on its overlays and Swoosh branding, with some extra fraying around the “Wings” logo on the collar. The upper’s white leather base will complement the deconstructed look of the panels once a few scuffs have accumulated.
While the “Denim,” isn’t the first Jordan shoe with the durable material on its design, as Levi’s x Air Jordan 4 collection, the Air Jordan 6 “Denim,” and others have popularized the look in recent years, but it is, in my estimation, one of the more premium-looking denim colorways yet. Unlike its predecessors, the Jordan 1 High OG “Denim” features golden lace accessories done up in the spirit of hoop earrings with a Jumpman on one shoe, and “Jordan” on the other.
