In an era when ageism has killed off many a self-proclaimed "cultural maven's" influence, Pharrell Williams still stands untarnished – the master of a lane that's completely his own. The legendary record producer and artist has birthed an entire generation with his avant-garde approach to style and fashion. Recognizing this, adidas enlisted Skateboard P for a brand partnership in 2014 to coincide with a major rebranding of the lifestyle sector of its business (a move that also brought Kanye West into the fold, propelling its place in sneaker culture). The working relationship initially saw Pharrell endorsing and reimagining tentpole models like the Stan Smith and Superstar, as well as the highly coveted Human Race edition of adidas' famed NMD model. There was also an apparel component, which brought back the classic track jackets bearing the iconic Three Stripes in premium leather. Pharrell's personality radiates through each piece of apparel and footwear, whether it shoes via a vibrant colorway choice, use of textures and patterns like polkadots, or even progressive messaging like the aforementioned Human Race branding. All of this preceded the grand unveiling of the adidas Tennis Hu, the musician's first-ever signature shoe. Modeled after the Stan Smith, the shoe pairs an upper constructed in either Primeknit or mesh with an EVA midsole and outsole with a waffle design. The result is clean and on par with what we've come to know about Pharrell aesthetically – with each piece of footwear and clothing being a portion of a mosaic put together in left-brained ways never previously imagined. Stadium Goods assembles all of the above in our curated selection of Pharrell x adidas kicks. That includes a handful of rare gems, along with sneakers that could easily become staples in your everyday wardrobe.
