The 10 Best Sneaker Releases of September 2020

Fragment Air Jordan 3

September always signals change. Back to school, back to work, and back to cooler temperatures outside. What hasn’t changed from months prior, however, is the amount of smoking hot sneaker releases from brands like Nike, adidas, and more.

As you’re about to see, it’s not much of a stretch to say that a new “Best Sneaker of 2020” contender was released on a daily basis this month. Rare colorways of the Nike Dunk popped up—twice!—and several brands, like Bodega and New Balance, returned to the well for a third time this year.

Let’s just dive right into 10 of the Best Sneaker Releases of September 2020.

Yeezy 380 Pepper

Adidas Yeezy Boost 380 “Pepper”

The Yeezy Boost 380 “Pepper” adds yet another flavorful colorway to Kanye West’s signature shoe series. So far, the evolutionary 380 model has featured a steady diet of earth-toned looks. But that’s about all that’s “earthly” about this shoe’s design that resembles the surface of a planet aliens may inhabit.

Nike Dunk High Spartan Green

As sure as you are to find pumpkin flavored everything in September, more covetable Nike Dunks highlighted another month of sneaker releases in 2020. This “Spartan Green” colorway channels energy from the omnipresent “Be True to Your School” pack. It’s also pretty much a clone of the color block used on 2008’s Dunk Low of the same nickname.

Fragment Design Air Jordan 3 White Black

Fragment Design x Air Jordan 3

It’s been said that this Fragment x Air Jordan 3 was supposed to be part of a “The 10” collection designed by Hiroshi Fujiwara. If that’s true, then this colorway is an indication of what kind of greatness Fragment and Jordan Brand have stashed away.

Bodega New Balance 997S

Bodega x New Balance 997S “Better Days”

The third and final installment of 2020’s most uplifting collection, the Bodega x New Balance 997S “Better Days” focuses on having a positive outlook in the face of trying times. In other words, it’s a very 2020 inspired colorway. You could also say that about the brands’ “No Days Off” and “No Bad Days.”

Yeezy 700 V3 Arzareth

Adidas Yeezy 700 V3 “Arzareth”

The original adidas Yeezy 700 V3 was released as 2019 gave way to 2020. Interestingly enough, the silhouette—based on the original Yeezy Boost 700—did away with one of its most recognizable trait, Boost cushioning. Instead, it added an even lighter sole made from EVA foam. Previously releasing in two neutral looks, the “Azael” and “Alvah,” this new “Arzareth” colorway shakes things up even more with a blue Primeknit upper.

Air Jordan 1 Bio Hack

Air Jordan 1 “Bio Hack”

The Air Jordan 1 “Bio Hack” has a bit of a “Dunk aura” to its design that veteran sneaker collectors may remember from the year’s past. The mismatching color block is loosely based on an Undefeated and Nike Dunk collaboration from 2005, a rare gem in the illustrious history of the shoe.

Air Jordan 5 Oregon

Air Jordan 5 “Oregon”

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan 5. To celebrate, Jordan Brand is going all-out by giving the shoe new colorways we never thought were possible. Cue in this “Oregon” look featuring a color block inspired by the Oregon Ducks, which happens to also inspire some of the greatest “non-original” Air Jordan colorways ever.

Air Jordan 14 Hyper Royal

Air Jordan 14 “Hyper Royal”

What’s old is new again. And that’s a pretty great thing if you’re talking about Air Jordans. There’s an “OG” quality to the Jordan 14 “Hyper Royal” in that it features the same color block as the “Cherry” colorway that Michael wore in between ‘98 NBA Finals practices. Just replace the red with blue, and you have another classic colorway in the making.

Nike Dunk High Michigan 2020

Nike Dunk High “Michigan”

Artifacts from Nike’s history keep surfacing in 2020. The latest colorway to return from 1985’s “Be True to Your School" pack is the “Michigan” based Nike Dunk High.

Air Jordan 13 Lucky Green

Air Jordan 13 "Lucky Green"

The Air Jordan 13 gets a little "luck of the Irish" with this colorway similar to Ray Allen's rare player exclusive from his days with the Boston Celtics.
