Nike Air Force 1 B "Hong Kong"

The famed B line is an unsung point in Nike Air Force 1 history, as it predates the much more popular premiums, supremes, inside-outs, and max airs edition versions.

Not to be confused with B-grades found at Nike factory stores, the term "B line" usually refers to a co.jp designed sneaker donning some type of exclusive design element. Here, we highlight the Nike Air Force 1 B "Hong Kong" from 2001, a dazzling design of the iconic silhouette in a Deep Forest colorway. The rare use of green on the AF1 is accented with burgundy on the laces and inner lining. A Swoosh outlined in white with a matching midsole brings some balance to the look. An orange insole completes the design.

BAIT x adidas Stan Smith Vulc "420"

West Coast based retailer BAIT and adidas Skateboarding had "green" on the brain when the two rolled out (read: rolled up) this collaboration in celebration of 4/20.

The meeting of the minds spawned this Stan Smith Vulc crafted from natural hemp. Inspired by the medicinal marijuana craze, the upper is heat pressed to show a stone pattern. The heel features adidas branding in white and a textured chunk green suede. In the spirit of keeping the kicks thematically tight, the additional nods to the Three Stripes brand on the tongue are accompanied by a proper medical label and a stash pocket. Additional details on the pull tab infer that this is a prescribed release.

Air Jordan 1 High Strap "Midnight Marauders"

In Hip-Hop lore, few group's achievements and aesthetic echo the culture's core values like A Tribe Called Quest. Representing the New York City boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn respectively, Q-Tip, the late Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi influenced a generation (along with their larger collective, The Native Tongues) with their sample-heavy, Jazz-centric sound and eclectic sense of style.

Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, and musical luminaries of the like have all but bowed at the feet of Tribe thanks to their epic six studio albums, including two releases to earn The Source magazine's genre-defining 5 Mic rating–People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm and The Low End Theory. However, it was the group's widely heralded third LP Midnight Marauders (1993) that would be forever immortalized in sneaker form on an Air Jordan 1 High Strap released in 2009.

The sneaker features an upper with textured black leather and mesh embroidered with an assortment of green and red accenting a la ATCQ's familiar album artwork, as well as a patent leather swoosh. This version of the Air Jordan 1 features a removable strap for your discretion.

CLOT x adidas ZX 800 ACU

ACU, the sneaker boutique in Shanghai ran by the minds behind CLOT, established a working relationship with adidas in 2007, giving the retailer exclusive rights to carry the Consortium Collection. A year later the two collaborated on a special version of the ZX800 model, featuring a color blend of a striking red upper with yellow accents in the spirit of the Chinese flag. Black on the heel, midsole, and adidas branding seen on the tongue adds some variation to the design.

Like any CLOT collaboration, the sneaker is comprised of multiple materials–suede paneling and patterned silk-like look on the upper and tongue included. The result is a collab that serves as a homage to Chinese culture, even down to its accessories: a red silk draw-string shoe bag, ACU logo lasered shoehorn, and four shoestring options.

Limited EDT x SBTG x Reebok Insta Pump Fury

This Reebok Insta Pump Fury is what dream collabs are made of. A product of the minds behind the famed sporting goods brand, Singaporean artist and founder of SBTG, Mark Ong and Mandeep Chopra, founder of Limited EDT, the sneaker pushes the limits of how to incorporate a range materials and textures on one silhouette.

The design draws inspiration from the lion, the national animal of Singapore, in its look and aesthetic (Singapore also translates to the "Lion City").

At first glance, the most eye-catching aspect of the shoe is the Pellegrini pony hair that occupies much of the upper, giving off the appearance of fur. The overlays are accentuated by SBTG's signature 'Parsillia' camo print. Black accents only make the Insta Pump Fury's look more interesting, while a white midsole and gum outsole round out the shoe.

Stone Island x Nike Sock Dart Mid "Triple Black"

This first-ever installment of the Sock Dart Mid arrives in style via a progressive collaboration with Stone Island and NikeLab. Because both brands are lauded for their high-brow approach to design, it was safe to assume that sneaker would feature far from normal construction.

With this release being the inaugural look at the Sock Dart Mid, the creative minds at Stone Island and Nike gave the silhouette a silicon print upper, produced in Italy using Nike's sandwich mesh fabric. Aesthetically, the shoe is next level due to its texturized look, which doesn't affect the ventilation system and flexibility. The mid-top look introduces an Ariaprene collar; meanwhile the natural motion-tooled outsole is amended to include additional multi-directional patterns for a better grip during the winter months.

Nike Air Zoom Generation "First Game"

A chosen few athletes receive their proverbial flowers while they can still smell them–in this case, a telltale is to see a retro release of their signature sneakers while they're still in their prime.

Michael Jordan saw the classic Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 3 return to shelves in 1994, but he'd left the NBA the previous year to try his hand at baseball despite still being a very capable basketball player. That in itself makes the 2017 version of LeBron James' first-ever shoe, the Air Zoom Generation, special. Like MJ, Bron Bron is still at the top of his game. However, he is still very much a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, the favorite to come out of the Eastern Conference during the 2016-17 season.

The 2017 Air Zoom Generation, the coveted "bouquet" in this sense, features a look that is spot-on with the original. Clean white leather on the upper is complemented by mesh on the side panels in Varsity Crimson, with Midnight Navy accents on the Swoosh, tongue, and lace placket. Released in limited quantities, these have been coined the "First Game" for obvious reasons.

Air Jordan 12 Retro "Melo"

Here's a blast from the past. In 2004, after a stellar rookie season, it was clear that Carmelo Anthony had a bright future in the NBA. Also a Jordan Brand athlete, the explosive forward played the game with flair and style while outfitted in his own signature shoe or a few dope PEs in the Denver Nuggets colorway.

Speaking on the latter, we highlight the Air Jordan 12 Retro "Melo", a clean sneaker featuring white tumbled leather and a matching textured mudguard. University Blue on the outsole, heel, tongue and inner lining add some color. Metallic Silver accents on the laces finish off the look.

As expected, the Air Jordan 12 Retro "Melo" was highly coveted, and that continues to be the case today as its first-ever retro arrived in 2016. Sadly, the shoe was only available in grade school sizes.

Nike Kobe 11 "Mambacurial"

Kobe Bryant's love for soccer materializes into this FC Barcelona-inspired pair of the Nike Kobe 11.

Aptly named the "Mambacurial", the sneaker sports a Flyknit upper for functionality purposes in College Navy, Racer Blue, and University Red, the colors of the iconic European club. A yellow Swoosh completes the design, along with a slick gum sole. On the heel, a football-style emblem referencing Bryant's five championships with stars can be seen.

The usual design amendments seen on past "Mambacurial" releases–vamp Swoosh treatment, altered branding on the medial side included–are nowhere to be seen here.

Palace Skateboards x adidas EQT Primeknit "Footwear White/Core Navy"

On December 16, 2016, Palace Skateboards and adidas delivered their second collaborative effort, including one of two adidas EQT Primeknit sneakers. The collection was created with a European perspective, as it references 'home' and 'away' kits from the 1990s.

Followers of the Stadium Goods Journal have likely seen the accompanying colorway. Its counterpart features the same Primeknit construction with a concealed sock liner and TPU heel counter to boot. Here, Footwear White and Core Navy are perfectly interweaved onto the upper, and complemented by Power Red accents. Fused overlays on the toe and lace plackett provide extra support.
