KAWS x Air Jordan 4 Retro

Famed artist KAWS went recluse after discontinuing his streetwear brand OriginalFake in 2013, only showing face for the occasional high art project or worthwhile collaboration. Jordan Brand commission him for the latter; his canvas: the Air Jordan 4. The result, magnificent.

The KAWS x Air Jordan 4 is as artful a sneaker as they come. Extremely limited in all regards, this version of the iconic silhouette is accompanied by a correlating apparel collection (sold separately, of course).

From a design perspective, the KAWS-edition Air Jordan 4 features clean aesthetic, while the subtle nuances define the shoe. Constructed with a buttery premium suede upper in smooth and heathered textures, it's drenched in a tonal grey colorway. KAWS hand graphics are etched into the upper as well, as well as the matching hang tag. The midsole and upper “Wings” are also wrapped in suede. Finally, a glow in the dark sole completes the look.

Riccardo Tisci x NikeLab Air Max 97 Mid

Air Max Day 2017 was the biggest celebration Nike's held for the iconic running shoe line to date. It was jam-packed with releases on all tiers, but none scratched the surface of the experimentation exhibited in NikeLab's "VisionAirs" collection.

Comprised of three sneakers designed by three style and technology visionaries – Riccardo Tisci's Air Max 97 Mid, Marc Newson's VaporMax, Arthur Huang's Air Max 1 Flyknit – the collection is an avant garde display of how luxury, form, and function can coexist on sports footwear.

Considering Italy's love for the Air Max 97, Tisci, former Givenchy Creative Director, was the best option to redesign the model. His first amendment was to do away with the tradition low-top look in favor of a mid-top version. Premium tumbled leather construction reinforces the notion of quality, with the help of suede accents, embossed co-branding, and metallic gold Swooshes.

Proper Tisci branding appears on the ankle and tongue. A white midsole and translucent out round out the design.

Air Jordan 1 Retro High "Blue Suede"

The iconic Air Jordan 1 possesses a sleek shape, making it the perfect silhouette for lifestyle releases. The trend continues, as Jordan Brand unveils the 2017 "Suede Collection", featuring the familiar shoe in monochromatic suede renditions.

Here, we see the Air Jordan 1 Retro High receive a tonal blue makeover, with entirely suede construction throughout the entire upper. Jumpman branding on a premium tongue tag replaces the usual OG ‘Nike Air’ branding. Additional white Jumpman logo appears on the insole is the only deviation from the “Blue Suede” coating. A traditional ‘Wings’ logo is etched onto the ankle. And finally, one last Jumpman can be seen on the heel to complete the design.

Nike Air Foamposite One "Copper"

When a sneaker in a new colorway garners the same love as an OG version, you know there's something special about it. Such was the case in 2010, when Nike unleashed a "Copper" colorway of the beloved basketball shoe, the Nike Air Foamposite One.

The Air Foamposite One – designed by Nike's Eric Avar – saw a resurgence in the mid-late 2000s after the OG "Royal" shoe retro released in 2007, followed by a handful of new colorways in the following years. The silhouette celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2017, so what better time to bring back the "Copper" release?

The Metallic Copper hue appears on the original motif. The sock-like lining and laces are colored in Black with copper accents. Carbon fiber paneling and an icy translucent sole complete the iconic look.

COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Air VaporMax FK

Nike wasted no time putting some collaborative energy into the most dynamic Air Max shoe ever, the Air VaporMax.

The first-ever collab using silhouette was created with COMME des GARÇONS; together the two deliver a lace-less version of the VaporMax for women, as if the groundbreaking shoe needs any added pizzazz. Not that the amendment is a bad thing, of course.

The COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Air VaporMax FK arrived in two colorway options designed by CDG founder Rei Kawakubo: a murdered-out all-black motif and a futuristic silver look. Each feature a slip-on construction, with CDG branding where the laces would normally be on the lateral and medial sides. The heel features a fused overlay. And finally, you can't miss the full-length air unit.
