Even More Bold: The Big Return of the Nike Air More Uptempo

Air was bigger than ever for Nike in 2017, with the debut of the VaporMax, the 20th anniversary celebration for the big-bubbled Air Max 97, and the major return of a classic basketball model that proudly advertises its cushioning more than any sneaker ever, the Air More Uptempo.

Already one of the most audacious sneaker designs of all time thanks to its blatant "AIR" branding plastered across the upper and full-length visible Air Max units, the More Uptempo somehow got even more irreverent in 2017. It wasn't wild colorways that made the shoe more neck-breaking than ever, but actual redesigns of the upper, which replaced the classic AIR text with all-new lettering for a few collabs and special editions. Stadium Goods 2017 Top Selling Sneakers

If 2016 was the year adidas convincingly planted themselves back in the hearts of sneaker collectors, 2017 was the year the brand straight up took over. Look no further for proof of their domination in the marketplace than this list of our top 25 best-selling sneakers of the year. The top ten? All adidas.

And the takeover continues from there, with 18 of the top 25 all coming from adidas and Yeezy. In 2016, adidas won a photo finish in our top 50 best sellers, taking just over half of the list with 26 entries. This new top 50 of 2017 shows that the Three Stripes have clearly pulled away from the Swoosh, taking up almost the entire list. Even in a year that saw the introduction of Nike’s innovative and stylish new VaporMax, Air was just no competition for Boost.

But with the insane hype and massive success of the OFF-WHITE x Nike “THE TEN” collection in the last quarter of 2017, Nike’s stock is definitely back on the rise. Could 2018 be the year the Swoosh takes back their place as kings of the sneaker market here at Stadium Goods? We’re predicting that it’s going to be quite a battle.

See how it all played out in 2017 with our list of the top 25 selling sneakers from Stadium Goods in-store and online, as well as our retail partners around the globe. You’ll see plenty of Yeezys, Ultra Boosts, and Jordan retros, and more than likely, some models you still need to add to your own collection.
