New Balance reached out to Japan's mita sneakers for assistance on a slick collaboration inspired by rodents that run rampant in Tokyo. The result is a shoe simple in color scheme, but intricate in its construction.
The "Tokyo Rat" uses the new 247 model as its base, which encourages customers to "live life 24/7". The side panels and heels feature furry suede that obviously mimics a rat's fur. The textured look is offset by mesh on the toe, all of which are colored in grey. Orange accents appear on the tongue, midsole and outsole, and the inner lining. Reflective materials give the sock-like upper another dynamic.
Photographer KEITA SUZUKI created the imagery that appears on the insole.
