The Air Jordan 4 "Raptors" is one of the most anticipated new sneaker releases in August. While the official release date of this Air Jordan 4 NRG is August 18, 2018, Stadium Goods has them early, in stock and ready to ship. Take an in-depth look at the sneakers in this exclusive unboxing video.
The Air Jordan 4 "Raptors" gets its nickname from an OG colorway of the Air Jordan 7 that came out in 1992. The irony of the nickname is that while the Jordan 7s came out in the black, dark charcoal, true red, and purple color in 1992, the Toronto Raptors did not play their first NBA game until the 1995–96 season. Nevertheless the nickname stuck to the Air Jordan 7s and made its way over to this new Air Jordan 4.
The upper of the Air Jordan 4 "Raptors" is predominantly black nubuck, which is offset by bright red details at the end of the Jordan 4's signature wings and on the lining of the tongue. The purple areas of the midsole are accented with a subtle black speckled pattern, and the outsole combines the shoe's three primary colors of red, purple, and black.
Because of the sneaker's ties to Toronto, there were rumors that these Jordan 4s were the result of a collaboration between Jordan Brand and Drake, but there are no design details on the shoe that reference the rapper or OVO.
