In 2014, the Doernbecher x Nike Free 5.0 was unveiled as part of the 11th Doernbecher Freestyle Collection, a one-of-a-kind collection designed by young patients from OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Oregon. Tim Haarmann’s design features “24” on one heel and “LAPS” on the other. The sneaker’s purple and black colors nod to his favorite team, the Washington Huskies, and the custom checkered fabric is inspired by a flag at the finish line of a race. With the Doernbecher x Nike Free 5.0, Tim pays tribute to two of his friends who also battled cancer at OHSU Doernbecher.
