Up close with the new “Pollen” Jordan 1.

The Air Jordan 1 and the Nike Dunk will forever be associated with one another. Both the brainchild of Nike designer Peter Moore, the retro basketball silhouettes made their debut in 1985 as the signature shoe of Michael Jordan and as the team shoe of college basketball’s preeminent programs, respectively. Both have been recalibrated as skate shoes and used by brands and artists in hyped collaborations. In terms of design, the Air Jordan 1 and the Dunk couldn’t be more alike as both shoes feature nearly identical panel shapes and Swoosh branding.
The latest chapter in the Jordan 1 and the Dunk’s shared legacy is the new Air Jordan 1 High OG “Pollen,” a black-and-yellow neck-breaker that is inspired by two of the Dunk’s most outstanding colorways.
Before we divulge on the two Dunks in question, let’s quickly mention that this isn’t the first time an Air Jordan 1 and a Dunk have swapped colorways. Even still, that doesn’t dilute the “Pollen’s” buzz. Especially when you consider the two Dunks its design mimics: the original “Iowa” colorway from 1985’s “Be True to Your School” collection and the supremely rare, unreleased “Wu-Tang Clan” Dunk from 1999.
Both Dunks, like the “Pollen,” feature a black tumbled leather base with contrasting yellow overlaid panels and a yellow Swoosh. The “Wu-Tang” Dunk has a black “W” logo embroidered on its heel, but other than that, the colorway is identical to the “Iowa” and it shares the same black-and-yellow color block as the “Pollen.”
