Great inspiration and perfect execution make this one of the best Nike SB Dunks of 2023. Here’s why.

While the Nike SB Dunk has been a fixture in skateboarding and sneaker communities for over two decades, one has never needed to know how to ollie or have a massive collection of sneakers to enjoy the classic shoe. Brazilian jiu-jitsu brand Albino & Preto makes sure of this with its recent SB Dunk “Jiu-Jitsu” collaboration that celebrates the culture of the combat sport with unique details that have never been seen before on the classic sneaker.
The Albino & Preto x Nike SB Dunk Low “Jiu-Jitsu” features an upper constructed from the same material that is used on the design of jiu-jitsu uniforms. The durable fabric is seen in what Nike SB calls a Fossil color scheme fresh out of the box, but with wear from skating or general use, the beige material can be worn away to reveal colored panels underneath that represent the various levels of jiu-jitsu talent (blue belt, brown belt, etc.). There have been various SB Dunk releases over the years that have had a wear-away construction, but never before has a colorway been inspired by the martial art of jiu-jitsu.

Albino & Preto’s SB Dunk collaboration comes during a resurgent time for the venerable sneaker. This summer, Supreme, Crenshaw Skate Company, April Skateboards, and Yuto Horigome all released their respective colorways of the SB Dunk to high levels of success. But Albino & Preto’s take stands out as a reminder that, no matter who you are and what you do, you can wear the SB Dunk—and in this case, the more you do, the better the sneaker will be.
