A look at Reebok’s exciting new line that brings a new era of luxury to the iconic sportswear brand.
Matt DeSciora & Zack Schlemmer
After naming Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson as the President and Vice President of its basketball division, Reebok isn’t done making headlines in 2023. The iconic sportswear brand recently announced the launch of Reebok LTD in Europe, a new collection of sneakers made from elevated materials with premium Italian craftsmanship. The line aims to evolve Reebok’s most essential sneakers into revamped, cutting-edge luxury footwear.
Like, for instance, the Reebok Club C that has transformed into the head-turning new LTD Future Club C, featuring a seamless 3D-molded cage upper with neoprene foam inner workings for a sneaker that’s as bold as it is comfortable.
The classic Club C has also been remodeled into the Club C LTD, featuring modernized lines on the upper, a plush nappa leather build, and an exaggerated sole unit on par with today’s style trends.
With the creation of Reebok LTD, which stands for “Learn. Test. Design.,” Reebok enters a new partnership with New Guards Group, a Farfetch Group company who will help lead Reebok LTD through a series of new releases and collaborations that will serve as a “playground for creative evolution.” Based on early Reebok LTD releases, the label is already living up to its promise.
Hed Mayner x Reebok LTD Classic Leather
In October, Reebok LTD teamed up with Israeli fashion designer Hed Mayner for two avant-garde, futuristically designed versions of the Reebok LTD Classic Leather sneaker. Coming in “Beige” and “White,” both colorways feature hand-washed leather uppers and an exaggerated tongue strap that drapes over the shoe in place of a traditional lacing system. The modified design gives the shoe an open-air construction that progresses the retro silhouette in a way that’s never been seen before.
The Reebok LTD Classic Leather isn’t the only model from Reebok’s vast archives to have its design reconfigured via Reebok LTD. Korean fashion brand KANGHYUK remastered the once-forgotten Reebok DMX Run 6 in two colorways—White/Red and Black/Red—as part of a collaboration for its Fall 2023 campaign via Reebok LTD. KANGHYUK’s penchant for red is seen on various accents on both colorways, as are a slightly warped-looking Vector logo, and modified panels. Both DMX Run 6 Modern by KANGHYUK retain the model’s original sole units as an homage to its heritage.
Reebok LTD’s mission to redefine the space between sport and luxury will continue with new and exciting collaborations throughout the remainder of 2023 and beyond. Exactly who the brand works with going forward is anyone’s guess, but this much is certain: Reebok is entering an exciting new era in its history, one that takes a big leap into the future of luxury sneaker design.
