8 Great New Balance Sneakers for $200 or Less Right Now

A few of our favorite New Balance sneakers that you can cop right now for a nice price.

Matt DeSciora

There is no hotter brand in sneakers than New Balance. You’ve probably heard us say that a lot lately if you’ve been keeping up with us on social media or here on our Journal, but it’s worth mentioning again because we couldn’t be more excited about what the Boston footwear company is doing right now. Seriously, it’s not some marketing hyperbole. Between Teddy Santis’s stellar “Made in USA” collection, a partnership with Joe Freshgoods that seems to get better with age, and the re-release of once-forgotten performance shoes from the early 2010s, New Balance can do no wrong in the eyes of sneaker collectors in 2023.

Another reason why we and so many other folks in this game stan for New Balance is because of all the great shoes it releases in the $200 or less price point range.

From the 2002R to the 550, and even the 990 V1, the original version of what might be the brand’s most heralded sneaker, a pair of quality New Balance sneakers can be had for $200 or less right now at Stadium Goods.

To give you a better understanding of what we’re talking about, we rounded up a few of our favorites in that won’t-break-the-bank price range so you can look great this spring and summer without spending a paycheck to do so.

New Balance 2002R “Burnt Orange”

The New Balance 2002R is one of the brand’s most popular sneakers right now. It’s so popular, in fact, that we just released a guide covering its most essential information, which you can read here. If you’re looking for our opinion on what 2002R colorway you should buy, we think this “Burnt Orange” design is pretty sweet.

New Balance 2002R “Marblehead”

Or, if orange isn’t necessarily your favorite color for a shoe, then maybe the New Balance 2002R in “Marblehead” should do the trick. We dare you to find one outfit this sneaker won’t go with.

Women’s New Balance 550 “UNC”

It’s been several years since the New Balance 550 made its splashy return to the scene, but the retro basketball shoe is as popular as ever thanks to all the great colorways it's offered in, like this women’s-exclusive “UNC” style.

New Balance 1906R “Sea Salt/Eclipse/True Red”

The New Balance 2002R and New Balance 550 are pretty much household names at this point, so there’s a good chance you either own one or the other or both. If you’re looking to expand your New Balance horizons, try the New Balance 1906R. It’s the latest vintage New Balance performance shoe to be re-issued in lifestyle colors, and a shoe that projects to only get more popular as more people get acquainted with its retro-modern design.

Teddy Santis x New Balance 990 V1 Made in USA “Olive”

Remember when we talked about value propositions in the introduction? Here’s a shining example of just that: Teddy Santis’s New Balance 990 V1 Made in USA “Olive,” a versatile, do-all colorway of the original version of the brand’s iconic silhouette… that’s priced under $200.

New Balance 90/60 “Truffle”

When Joe Freshgoods co-signs something, take notice. The Chicago native and legendary New Balance collaborator put his stamp of approval on the New Balance 90/60 last year as part of his “Conversations Among Us” collection. That’s only done wonders for the 90/60, which means nabbing a colorway like the “Truffle” for $200 or less is a smart move.

New Balance 1906R “Beige/Cream”

Versatility is a key trait of any great New Balance sneaker. The New Balance 1906R “Beige/Cream” is as versatile as it gets with its grey-on-cream design. In other words, this 1906R is a great shoe. It’s that simple.

New Balance 550 “White/Indigo/Burgundy”

The New Balance 550 is one of the brand’s flagship sneakers, so we’ll close out this list by hitting you with one more option: the “White/Indigo/Burgundy.” With a plain colored tee, some shorts, and this shoe on your feet, you can be good in any casual setting from now until next fall.
