The Nike Air Barrage Mid, done up here in a Toronto Raptors inspired colorway, glowingly harkens back to mid-90s Nike performance training footwear. Having first made its debut on the feet of former NFL superstar Marshall Faulk back in the day, the chunky trainer falls right in line with the aesthetics and tech of the time period. The Raptors, then a fledgling NBA franchise with a beloved set of uniforms and team mascot, provide the inspiration for thhis 2019 retro edition. White leather appears on the toe as a base with a combination of purple mesh and nubuck overlays on the mid-panel and heel. A large black velcro strap spans the forefoot with a white Swooshes appearing on the strap and mid-panel. The inner side of the sneaker is complete with black nubuck overlays. Purple-based synthetic material is on the tongue with white Nike branding, with more Swooshes on the toe in red, embroidered in white on the pull tab, and again with “Nike Air” on the heel. Finishing touches include AIR spelled out in red across the midsole and a simple white tonal Swoosh on the back heel of the midsole. The Nike Air Barrage Mid QS “Raptors” was released during summer 2019.
